Planning to burn? New Hampshire requires a fire permit for most open burning. Reach the Sandwich forest fire warden at (603) 387-7104 or (603) 284-6450 before you light anything.
Fourteen residents carry the calls for the whole town. No experience needed to start, training comes with the role. Residents can join at 18, and there is a cadet path from 16 for younger volunteers who want in early.
Rather support than serve? The Sandwich Fire & Rescue Association, a local nonprofit, backs the department. Ask the station how to help.
For any emergency, call 911. For everything else, here is where the crew actually picks up.
